Let's share what has worked, what hasn't, what we wish we could do.
I found a job where I can work at home. I work for a nutritional company programming and doing web development. I love being home. The pay isn't the greatest though.

Re: How the job hunt going?
Tue, August 17, 2004 - 9:17 AMhas anybody here ever tried to start a career in Real Estate? It seems pretty straight forward; take a few classes in Real Estate then take the exam. I'm sure it's not that easy, but could it be? Is that all it takes...then of course you'd have to actually find a job as a realtor, that could take time...
any input on this? -

Re: How the job hunt going?
Tue, August 17, 2004 - 2:36 PMI don't have any input as far as the training. But I know from buying a house and working with five different realtors that they work 24/7. You have to be on-call all the time and put in lots of hours if you want to make any money.

Re: How the job hunt going?
Mon, September 6, 2004 - 12:00 AMI was a Realtor Broker in New Mexico and Arizona for 11 years. It was really easy for me to get started. Typically, if you go for a salesperson license you need to have a broker sponsor you that will allow you to work under their brokerage. But if you pass the Broker's exam you can work on your own right off. I found the broker's exam wasn't any more difficult than the salesman's. But first, where are you located? Some states are impossible to deal with so you'd be best checking with your Board of Realtors and state licensing commission before you go too far. Also, while you're checking, find out if your state has reciprocity with other states. If not, it could be a disaster if you move to another state.
Also, yes, it is true. Like any self-employment/career you might get involved with, you will eat, sleep and drink real estate 24/7.
